UA X EFC
Night Running Pullover
Winter 2020
Under Armour worked with Art Center faculty to create and
propose a brief for a multidisciplinary course. With assistance from a local running crew, Electric Flight Crew, our design team was tasked with envisioning the future of run. The EFC pullover is one of 4 products that were created during this collaboration. Together we developed a strategy, using triboluminescent fabric, to visually measure an athlete's effort level. A solution that keeps them safe and motivated.

OBSERVATIONS
1. Athlete's safety
Running at night means fewer cars, less air pollution, and more space for running. Yet, it is still difficult to see the running crew on the road.
2. Effort vs Stats
Unlike other running crews, EFC focuses on inspiring through effort, rather than comparing statistics and personal records.
3. Socialize
Meet up and finish at a local bar. EFC uses its platform to allow young professionals to connect and network in Los Angeles.
OBJECTIVES
Visualize a clean, safe, and natural way to exercise in the city.
Design a system that measures effort, not statistics.
Emphasize group dynamics within the crew.
INSPIRED BY A BIO-GLOW
In 2019 and 2020, massive bioluminescent algae clusters blossomed. Spanning the length of Southern California's coastline, they created beautiful, glowing waves that crashed on the shore at night.
