At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I joined a team of 30 ArtCenter students and faculty to tackle the urgent need for PPE. Over four months, we designed and produced more than 3,800 face shields for Shield Makers, leveraging cutting-edge techniques like 3D printing, silicone casting, and rapid prototyping.

I took the lead on refining tooling designs, streamlining production workflows, and ensuring the shields met high functional, clinical, and ergonomic standards. These efforts enabled the distribution of protective equipment to over 35 smaller hospitals, assisted living centers, and clinics. This project exemplified how creativity and collaboration can drive meaningful solutions in critical times.

  • 3D Printed mold

  • Silicone mold for large-scale manufacturing

  • Final product: Faceshield bands ready for distribution
